Murray takes third in Dutch race
Gary Murray
Gary Murray is the current Irish Cross Country Champion
Donegal athlete Gary Murray finished in third place in a cross country event in Holland on Sunday.

Murray was running on the same course in Tilburg which will host the European Cross Country Championship next month.

Morocco's Issa Dghoughi won the International Warandeloop event ahead of Frenchman Irba Lakhal.

Murray won this year's Irish Cross Country Championship in February and also set personal bests over 1500m and 5000m during the summer.

Britain's Peter Riley finished eighth in Sunday's European Athletics Association permit meeting race.

Murray will hope to earn a return visit to Tilburg by finishing in the top three at the Irish Intercounties Championship in Sligo on 27 November, which doubles as the national trials for the European Championship.

Gareth Turnbull is also expected to compete in the Sligo race with a view to earning a place at the Europeans.

Turnbull won a 8K road race in New York recently and appears to have put his long-list of injury problems behind him.
