James McIlroy has been in disappointing form in recent weeks
McIlroy is hoping to improve on his form of last season
Northern Ireland athlete James McIlroy has made a successful start to the 2005 season.

The former Olympian won a 600 metres race in South Africa in a time of 76.55 seconds.

McIlroy now travels to Stuttgart in Germany to compete in a 1,000 metres indoor race on Sunday night.

The 28-year-old who competed in the Sydney Olympics, is hoping to improve on a poor 2004 season when he failed to qualify for the Athens Games.
