Montgomery awaits doping verdict

Montgomery has always denied taking drugs
World 100m record holder Tim Montgomery will wait to see if he is punished with a lifetime ban after his doping hearing ended on Friday.

The American answered charges brought by the US Anti-Doping Agency in wake of the Balco drugs scandal.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport hearing began on Monday, with the ruling expected late next month.

Montgomery, who is eligible to compete until then, will face Olympic 100m champion Justin Gatlin on Saturday.

The American also plans to run at the US championships from June 23-26.

Montgomery, the partner of Sydney triple Olympic champion Marion Jones, has never failed a drugs test and told the denied taking performance-enhancing drugs.

He set the 100m world record of 9.78 seconds in 2002 - but he could be stripped of the mark.
