Marathon role for Wilkinson
Jonny Wilkinson
Wilkinson is out of action with injury
Rugby World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson will be an official starter at the Flora London Marathon on 18 April.

He will join Sir Roger Bannister and Lamine Diack, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations in that duty.

Wilkinson, who kicked England to victory in Australia, is out of action injured after a shoulder operation.

The 24-year-old will also start off the women's wheelchair race and will man a drinks station during the race.

Former England captain Martin Johnson, meanwhile, is to be the official starter of the Mini London Marathon.

The man who led England to World Cup victory will wave off the competitors in the event that covers the last 2.6 miles of the marathon course.
