Montgomery suffered a shock defeat in Mexico last week |
World record holder Tim Montgomery stormed back to winning ways with victory in the men's 100m at the IAAF Japan Grand Prix.
The world silver medallist was beaten by Canada's Nicholas Macrozonaris at the Grand Prix Banamex in Mexico last week.
But the American overcame that shock loss by clocking 10.04 seconds in Osaka to finish ahead of Patrick Johnson, who became the first Australian to break the 10-second barrier when he ran 9.93 earlier this week.
Local hope Shingo Suetsugu was third in 10.16, followed by world bronze medallist Bernard Williams of the United States with a time of 10.17.
"It just shows that I need more work," said Montgomery. "This was my second race since 14 September, and I look forward to more races to get better."
