O'Sullivan flees bushfires
Sonia O'Sullivan was training at altitude in Australia
O'Sullivan is preparing for the world cross country

Ireland's Sonia O'Sullivan has been forced to leave her Australian training camp in Falls Creek, Victoria, because of bushfires.

O'Sullivan was joined in the evacuation by several other athletes preparing at altitude before the IAAF World Indoors and Cross Country Championships in March.

Nic Bideau, O'Sullivan's partner and coach, said the scenic mountain venue was covered in smoke.

"The road to the trails where we train is closed and the fire is only 20 kilometres away, with the forecast for winds that will increase the danger," Bideau told the Press Association.

"Sonia had been training well - but not that well she could outrun a raging bushfire if it comes this way."
