Perec eyes Paris worlds
Triple Olympic champion Marie-Jose Perec
Perec has avoided the spotlight since Sydney 2000
Triple Olympic champion Marie-Jose Perec is back in training and aiming to run in next year's world championships in Paris, according to reports in France.

The 35-year-old French star has been training in Los Angeles, Chicago and her Caribbean home of Guadeloupe, reports Le Parisien newspaper.

Confirmation came from Camille Elizabeth, Perec's former coach.

"Marie-Jo will be at the world championships to win," said Elizabeth.

"I can't say any more because she wants to to get back into shape away from all the media coverage," said Elizabeth.

Perec won the 400m Olympic gold at Barcelona in 1992 and four years later in Atlanta, where she also took the 200m.

But she fled Australia days before the 2000 Olympics in a burst of publicity and has hardly been sighted since, spending most of her time in the Caribbean.
