Radcliffe set for London
Paula Radcliffe
Radcliffe was named athlete of the year by the IAAF
Paula Radcliffe has given a strong indication that she will defend her London Marathon title in 2003.

After breaking the marathon world record in Chicago, Radcliffe said she was considering concetrating solely on her track running in 2003.

I'm definitely going to do one marathon

However, the newly crowned female athlete of the year said she would run one marathon next year and that it would probably be in Spring.

The Flora London Marathon is on 13 April.

"I'm definitely going to do one - I'd like to do two but I don't think that's good for my body yet or doing the right thing for Athens," said Radcliffe, who is eyeing a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics.

"I need to decide in the next couple of weeks as it affects the racing plans for the whole year - a spring marathon set me up very well this year.

"It's not coming down to who offers the most money. Dave (Bedford) at London knows if I make my decision and it's a spring marathon we will sit down and talk.

"We know they would like me to run there and I would like to. But we need to decide what we are going to do."

Radcliffe said a Spring marathon would allow her to run the entire track season and target more records.

"This year I ran only three times on the track - now I definitely want to get under 30 minutes (for 10,000m) and the world 5000m record is a possibility," she said.
