There was drama from start to finish in Toxteth |
A roll-call of Liverpool and Everton greats turned out to support the fourth round of the BBC's Your Game national five-a-side football tournament.
Former Reds legends John Barnes, Alan Kennedy, Phil Neal and Dean Saunders joined former Everton players Barry Horne and Matt Jackson, as well as 150 young men and women from across Merseyside at Toxteth Sports Centre.
BBC 1Xtra's DJ Sappo, local hip-hop artist Yaw and ball skills expert Richard Braithwaite added to the festival atmosphere as the teams competed for a place in the national final at St James' Park in Newcastle in May.
Rice Lane Wanderers ran out 1-0 winners over Positive Futures in a close-fought men's final.
The deadlock was eventually broken by a deflected winner off the Positive Futures' goalkeeper.

Anfield legend Barnes had a message of encouragement for the dejected youngster at the final whistle.
"Special mention to the goalkeeper because although he made that mistake, he kept them in the game with five or six saves," said the former England international.
"But if you're a goalkeeper that happens. It was a good weekend for the boys."
A member of the Rice Lane team summed up by the spirit of the day. "Kids, lads, older men who don't have spare time meet together, have a cracking joke, play a little football and get on together. We're very mixed, we've got white, black, Arab and Chinese."
In the women's final, Saz Futures met MYA United, one of two teams representing the Muslim Youth Association.

SAZ ran out worthy winners in a tense 2-0 encounter, but there was better news for the other MYA team (The Liverpool Muslim Ladies) who claimed the women's Fair Play award and join Dream Team, the men's Fair Play winners, in the Your Game final at St James' Park.
All players had the opportunity to pick up commentary tips from Five Live's Conor MacNamara, as well as finding out about free FA coaching and refereeing courses and the chance to test their DJ skills with DJ Sappo.
The best DJ prize went to Jade Jackson, who clearly intends to make the most of the opportunities on offer. She said: "Young kids, they can bring friends and then they're building a relationship with different kinds of people, so they can build on that and maybe make a career out of it."
