| Inter move to top spot ![]() Mohammed Kallon scored twice for Inter Italy Inter Milan moved back to the top of Serie A after a comfortable 3-0 win over Reggina on Sunday. They were also given a boost when city rivals AC Milan suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at Perugia thanks to a goal from Fabrizio Miccoli. The striker, who received a call-up to the Italian squad on Saturday, celebrated with powerful half-volley into the top corner of the net. Inter had a much easier time with Christian Vieri opening the scoring on 10 minutes before going off with a knee injury. Vieri's replacement Mohammed Kallon scored twice before half-time to make the points secure. Reigning champions Juventus are alongside Milan on 42 points thanks to a scrappy 1-0 home win over Empoli. David Trezeguet's seventh-minute penalty was enough for Juve who struggled without injured striker Alessandro Del Piero. Juventus were gifted their penalty when Empoli's Brazilian defender Sanchez Emilson Cribari needlessly handled Pavel Nedved's left-wing cross. Elsewhere, Piacenza coach Luigi Cagni got off to a losing start as his relegation-threatened team went down 2-1 at Udinese. Saturday Sunday Germany A last-minute goal by Naohiro Takahara of Hamburg stunned leaders Bayern Munich on Sunday. The goal also ended goalkeeper Oliver Kahn's Bundesliga record of more than 800 minutes without conceding a goal. Bayern were set to open a 10-point lead at the top before the Japan striker's late intervention. Claudio Pizarro had given Bayern a first-half lead. Second-placed Borussia Dortmund slipped up, losing 1-0 to Stuttgart thanks to Croatian international Zvonimir Soldo. Bayer Leverkusen fell deeper into relegation trouble on Saturday after last season's Bundesliga runners-up were beaten 2-1 by VfL Bochum. Bochum's Iranian substitute Vahid Hashemian bagged a brace as Leverkusen suffered a third successive league defeat. Hashemian's second goal came just six minutes from time after Croatian midfielder Marko Babic had equalised in the 78th minute for Leverkusen. Financially-troubled Kaiserslautern, bottom at the start of play, beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-0. The win saw Kaiserslautern climb above Energie Cottbus - who drew 0-0 at Hansa Rostock - on goal difference. Werder Bremen's 2-1 home defeat by TSV 1860 Munich means they stay third. Saturday Sunday France A brilliant overhead kick by Ibrahima Bakayoko helped Olympique Marseille take over at the top of the table with a 2-0 win at AC Ajaccio on Saturday. With Monaco being held 0-0 by Stade Rennes, Marseille stand two points clear.
Marseilles also stole a march on Nice, who were held 2-2 at home by Sochaux, although the point was still enough to move them into third. Reigning champions Lyon also lost ground as they too could only manage a draw, failing to score against bottom club Troyes. Paris St Germain's slide also continued as they were shocked by second-bottom Montpelier, who won 3-1 in the Parc des Princes. Despite being without Brazilian star Ronaldinho, PSG went ahead in only the third minute through Jerome Leroy. But Valery Mezague struck twice in six minutes for Montpellier and Fode Mansare sealed victory by latching onto a rebound off a post. Auxerre missed out on the chance of going back to fourth place after a 1-0 home defeat to Nantes - Romanian Viorel Moldovan scoring the only goal. Saturday Sunday Spain Leaders Real Sociedad suffered a setback when they could only draw 0-0 with a revitalised Espanyol on Sunday. Espanyol have lost just once since former Spain and Sociedad coach Javier Clemente took over before Christmas. Sociedad are now just two points ahead of European champions Real Madrid, who came from a goal down before defeating Real Betis 4-1 on Saturday. Fernando put Betis ahead in the 37th minute following some dazzling wing play from Denilson. However, Raul got the hosts back on terms a minute before half-time and a Luis Figo penalty then gave them the lead four minutes after the break.
Valencia lost ground on the leading two in Spain after drawing 1-1 with bottom club Recreativo Huelva. Barcelona's misery continued after they surrendered a 2-0 lead to Real Sociedad. Radomir Antic, taking charge of his first game since becoming stand-in coach, could only watch as strikes from Javier Saviola and Marc Overmars before were canceled out in the second half. Santiago Ezquerro pulled one back from the penalty and Francisco Yeste equalised in the 55th minute following a goalmouth scramble.
