Battered but not beaten
Andy Murray

A mixed clay-court season followed, the highlight a straight-sets destruction of dirt specialist Jose Acasuso at the French Open, before Murray returned to the grass for the first time since 2006.

He battled back to defeat Ernests Gulbis to reach the Queen's quarter-finals - but not before taking several tumbles on the lush grass and straining his thumb.

Despite fears that the injury curse might yet again strike, Murray says he is ready for Wimbledon - and the nation can prepare itself for a rollercoaster ride.

"On grass, he is one of the favourites."
Rafael Nadal
