It was the second doubles title for Knowles and Nestor |
Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor won the US Open men's doubles, beating Leander Paes and David Rikl 6-3 6-3 on Friday. Canadian Nestor and Bahamaian Knowles took just 63 minutes to see off Paes of India and Rikl of the Czech Republic.
"We felt really good about way we have been playing and we did a great job today focussing on our games and executing," Knowles said.
"We didn't let them make an impression on the return. The key to our partnership is we feed off each other."
It was the second Grand Slam win for Nestor and Knowles, who first played together 10 years ago.
They also won the 2002 Australian Open, defeating Michael Llodra and Fabrice Santoro 7-6 6-3.
The mixed doubles went to Vera Zvonareva of Russia and American Bob Bryan, who beat Australia's Alicia Molik and Todd Woodbridge 6-3 6-4.
