Lleyton Hewitt made light of difficult conditions as he crushed Tommy Haas to reach the US Open semi-finals. The Australian coped with the blustery wind far better than Haas, who was so frustrated by the third set he briefly left the court and sat in the stands.
Hewitt took little notice and remained totally focused on his way to a 6-2 6-2 6-2 victory.
The fourth seed will take on Joachim Johansson in the semis after the Swede beat defending champion Andy Roddick.
"That was some of the toughest conditions I've ever played in," said Hewitt.
"But it was the same for both players, I just tried to remain positive and I thought I did that well. It doesn't get any easier though and I need to just keep this going."
