| Friday, 14 February, 2003, 18:11 GMT More misery for Glasgow ![]() Borders blocked Glasgow's path into Europe Glasgow 19-42 Borders Borders took a big leap towards a Heineken Cup place by inflicting more Pro-Cup misery on Glasgow at Hughenden. The home side had enjoyed the better of the opening sparring session, only to surrender the contest by leaking three soft tries in quick succession. Borders' first came in the ninth minute when streetwise veteran Doddie Weir stole a Glasgow line-out close to his line. Number eight Campbell Feather galloped out of the danger zone before fine link-work featuring Jonno Stuart gave wing Gareth Morton the time and space to score.
The Glasgow gloom deepened even further when hooker Stevie Scott ploughed through in the corner in the wake of a well-worked line-out ploy. Shell-shocked Glasgow finally awoke from their slumbers to force their way back into the picture as Glenn Metcalfe danced past three markers. But they were soon back under the cosh, handing the visitors their fourth try through Morton. Warriors salvaged seven points on the brink of the break with an Andy Wilson try, goaled by Calvin Howarth. But any prospect of a meaningful fightback was wrecked in the opening seconds of the second-half when Nikki Walker completed a long-range break. A Nathan Ross try gave Glasgow a glimmer of hope, only for Tanner Vili to add three penalties to his haul of conversions.
