Melissa Berry attempts to tackle Zandile Nojoko as Wales lose 15-10 to South Africa on Tuesday
The Wales back-rower gives her insight into their Women's World Cup campaign I'm nursing a knee injury after taking on South Africa, but the fact we lost when we should have won - it was there for the taking - was even more painful in the aftermath of the game. It was very disappointing to lose in the way we did. We made basic errors that cost us the game, but all we can do is analyse where we went wrong and prepare to face one of the tournament favourites, New Zealand, at the weekend. We have to be in the right frame of mind for that challenge because they are a team that can really play when they get the chance. They can play the game through their backs out wide and have a great reputation. But they are also flesh and blood, just like us, and we must take the challenge to them. I don't think we have not shown our potential in our two games in this tournament, but against South Africa our own mistakes cost us dearly. | No matter what is happening on the field this event is a fantastic experience |
We scored a fantastic try through Elen Evans and we would like to score more like that while cutting down on our error count. But no matter what is happening on the field this event is a fantastic experience even if it's very full on and tiring because of the hard work we are putting into it. We are also managing to have a bit of fun to lighten the mood and keep ourselves occupied. Last week I told you we were going to hold our own talent show - Surrey's Got Talent - competed for by the Welsh rugby "family" groups we belong to. Well, the Williams's came out on top with their version of The Wanted's 'All Time Low' which is in the charts at the moment. Our centre, Ceri Redman, also surprised a few of us with her singing talent. She sang part of the Welsh anthem Hen Wlad fy Nhadau in acapella and then we all joined in. Now we think she should be a strong candidate to lead the singing of the anthem before a big game at the Millennium Stadium because she has a fantastic voice. We have yet to hold our version of Come Dine With Me, but I'm still planning to cook a lasagne from scratch if we get the chance. The main business of being in Guildford for this tournament is keeping us very occupied and we've not had much chance to socialise with any of the opposition teams. Hopefully we can still make our mark on this tournament. Catrina Nicholas was talking to BBC Sport Wales' Gareth Roberts
