Gomez made 12 appearances for Leeds last season |
Leeds Carnegie's Juan Gomez has agreed a new two-year contract at the club. The 26-year-old tight-head prop was out of contract this summer, and Leeds say they fought off fierce competition to keep him at Headingley. Head coach Neil Back said: "We are delighted that Juan has agreed a new contract. "He is beginning to flourish on the back of consistent performances which has led to him being selected for the full Argentina Test squad." Back continued: "I think it is important to say that Juan is still developing and he knows where he needs to improve his game. | Hopefully the club can now go on from here and be even stronger in the future |
"Having said that, the corner stone of your pack is your tight-head prop and that gives you a platform on which you can build your game. "Juan has done that exceptionally well for us this year in tandem with Phil Swainston off the bench." Gomez, who last week was called up for Argentina's forthcoming Tests against France and Scotland, said: "I have really enjoyed my time at Leeds so far and I am very much looking forward to the next two seasons at Headingley Carnegie. "This season has been fantastic for the team and we have achieved our goals. The coaching staff showed great belief in the squad and we were able to fulfil that. "Hopefully the club can now go on from here and be even stronger in the future."
