Tindall has been named in England's Elite Player Squad

Gloucester have confirmed that centre Mike Tindall and number eight Gareth Delve will be the club's joint captains for the new rugby season.

The announcement is designed to counteract the loss of top players on international duty throughout the forthcoming season.

Both players led Gloucester at various times during the last campaign.

"Gareth and Mike both led the side with distinction last season," said new head coach Bryan Redpath.

"The nature of the modern game means that, if you name one man as your captain, there is a possibility that you will be denied his services because of injury or international call-ups.

"I'm comfortable naming them as joint captains and, having spoken to them both, know that they view it as an honour."
