Lock forward Ian Nimmo has also had spells with Leicester and Coventry

Cornish Pirates have made their first signing for next season by agreeing a deal with forward Ian Nimmo to transfer from Championship rivals Nottingham.

The 24-year-old ex-Scotland Under-21 international will move to Camborne Rec for the start of next season.

Pirates forwards coach Ian Davies said: "Ian is an excellent tight forward and a good tactician of line-out play.

"The coaching team are excited that he's signed for us. We feel he'll add to the squad on and off the field."

Nimmo, who started his rugby career with Edinburgh-based Heriot's and represented his country at Under-18 and Under-19 level, has made 16 appearances for Nottingham this season.
