The enormous lock is the hard man of the intimidating South Africa pack and forms one half of the best second row unit in the game with the superb Victor Matfield.

While the athletic Matfield rules the line-out and revels in open play Botha is straight out of the classic "enforcer" mould of Springbok hard men.

He is far from the most skilful player and his disciplinary record is less than spotless, but when it comes to up front grunt, Botha is right up there.
