By James Standley

1718: The Premiership play-off semi-finals will take place on 5 May.

Gloucester will host Saracens at Kingsholm, kick-off 1300 BST, with Leicester taking on Bristol at Welford Road at 1730 BST.

1706: News finally comes through that Harlequins have hammered Sale 49-0, a sorry end to the season for the champions.

They will not defend their crown, with Gloucester, Leicester, Bristol and Saracens the four teams who will contest the play-offs, while Northampton are the team who fall through the Premiership trap-door after Worcester's last-day heroics at Sixways.

1700: There is one result still to come but the important business has been resolved.

Gloucester end the regular season on top of the table, while Leicester secure the other home play-off berth.

The Tigers will face Bristol, while Saracens will travel to Gloucester.

At the foot of the table Northampton finish a point adrift of Worcester despite their 22-15 win against London Irish.

1658: Results:
Northampton 27-22 London Irish
Newcastle 12-20 Bath
Worcester 22-7 Saracens
Leicester 40-26 Wasps
Gloucester 35-13 Bristol

1654: Worcester survive. The final whistle goes to herald their 22-7 win over Saracens and another year in the Premiership for the Warriors.

1653: Full-time at Sixways but despite their 27-22 win against London Irish, Northampton will be relegated the minute the final whistle goes at Worcester.

1651: Full times Gloucester 35-13 Bristol; Leicester 40-26 Wasps.

1649: All six Premiership matches are entering the final few minutes and Worcester are all but safe with Northampton set to be relegated from the Premiership for the second time in their history.

1644: DROP GOAL Leicester 40-26 Wasps:
Ayoola Erinle and Mark McMillan score for Wasps but they look as though their Premiership campaign is going to end before the play-offs for the first time since they were introduced.

1641: DROP GOAL Worcester 22-7 Saracens:
The Worcester pack has been dominant all match and they put Drahm in position to slide a stiletto in the visitors' midriff.

The Sixways crowd is starting to celebrate survival even though there is still quarter of an hour to go.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for Saracens as Leicester have stretched their lead against Wasps courtesy of a Lewis Moody try, so Sarries' play-off place appears secure.

Out west the retiring Jake Boer has scored to give Gloucester a 35-13 lead against Bristol at Ashton Gate.

1632: TRY Northampton 27-15 London Irish:
Scrum-half Mark Robinson crosses under the posts for the Saints but it looks like being too little too late as Worcester seem firmly in control against Saracens.

At the top, as it stands Gloucester and Leicester will be the home teams in the play-offs, with Bristol and Saracens completing the quartet.

1624: TRY Worcester 19-7 Saracens:
Worcester take a massive stride towards safety as Dale Rasmussen powers over in the corner from Drahm's excellent pass.

The referee and touch judge gave it immediately, although replays suggest it was at least worth a further look.

1619: TRY Leicester 33-14 Wasps:
Dan Hipkiss scores Leicester's second try in quick succession and Wasps' chances of reaching the play-offs are rapidly receding.

Elsewhere, Gloucester are pulling well clear against Bristol, leading 28-13, while Reihana has added a penalty to nudge Northampton into a 20-12 lead against London Irish and Bath lead Newcastle 17-7.

1612: TRY Northampton 17-12 London Irish:
The games re-start around the country and it's first blood to Northampton as Scotland winger Sean Lamont powers over for a converted try.

However, even if Northampton win with a bonus point to draw level on points with Worcester, who are beating Saracens, the Warriors would stay up - the Saints need Saracens to do them a favour.

At Welford Road Leicester have been awarded a penalty try and lead Wasps 26-14 - if the result stays that way it means even if Saracens lose they cannot be pipped by Wasps for the fourth play-off place.

1558: Worcester have a try disallowed on the stroke of half-time at Sixways, but they go in with a 14-7 lead and as it stands they will be in the Premiership next season.

Over in Northampton the Saints trail London Irish 12-10, while Gloucester lead Bristol 21-8, Newcastle are 12-0 down to Bath and Harlequins have romped into a 23-0 lead against Sale.

1555: TRY Leicester 19-14 Wasps:
Over in the East midlands Samoan powerhouse Alesana Tuilagi scores a converted try for the Tigers, which means Saracens go back into the fourth play-off spot. It's now half-time at Welford Road.

1552: TRY Worcester 14-7 Saracens:
Are Worcester on their way to survival? They launch a rolling maul at the Saracens line and Drew Hickey plunges over for a converted score.

But no sooner than I write that, Saracens replacement Dan Scarbrough erupts onto a short pass from Andy Farrell and slices through under the posts, with Farrell converting.

1547: PENALTY Gloucester 14-8 Bristol:
Leaders Gloucester look set fair for a home semi-final as Walker crosses for a try at Ashton Gate - he's scored all 14 points for the Cherry and Whites.

Having said that Samoan winger David Lemi immediately hits back for their West country rivals with a try of his own.

At Sixways Shane Drahm misses with a simple kick for Worcester against Saracens - will it prove vital? Two minutes later Saracens lose prop Kevin Yates to the bin.

1540: PENALTY Leicester 12-14 Wasps:
Goode trims the gap with a penalty for Leicester, Harlequins lead Sale 13-0 and Gloucester are 9-3 up against Bristol.

1537: PENALTY Leicester 9-14 Wasps:
Van Gisbergen edges Wasps into a five-point lead against Leicester and, with Saracens losing at Sixways, Wasps are currently in possession of the final play-off place.

1533: TRY Northampton 10-12 London Irish
Disaster for Northampton as Seilala Mapusua crosses wide out for London Irish.

A Mike Brown try helps Harlequins into a 10-0 lead against Sale, while Wasps take an 11-9 lead against Leicester courtesy of James Haskell's try.

1528: PENALTY Northampton 10-7 London Irish
Reihana lands a 45m penalty to edge Saints in front, although they still trail Worcester in the table.

At Ashton Gate Walker is on target again to edge Gloucester into a 6-0 lead against Bristol, while Andy Goode's penalty puts Leicester into a 9-6 lead against Wasps.

1524: TRY Northampton 7-7 London Irish:
Northampton are back at terms at Franklin's Gardens after a Spencer break sends captain Bruce Reihana over for a try which he converts. Still advantage Worcester though.

Just up the M1 in Leicester Mark van Gisbergen has levelled it at 6-6 for Wasps.

1522: Leicester are 6-3 up at home to Wasps in a preview of the Heineken Cup final, although there's plenty at stake at Welford Road today as well.

1517: TRY Worcester 7-0 Saracens
Lutui scrambles over for a converted try to give Worcester the lead at Sixways.

Meanwhile, a Willie Walker penalty puts Gloucester 3-0 up against Bristol at Ashton Gate and Andrew Mehrtens is on target to put Quins 3-0 up against Sale.

1513: TRY Northampton 0-7 London Irish
Bad news for Northampton - Topsy Ojo crosses for a converted try for London Irish at Franklin's Gardens.

1511: Bad news for England coach Brian Ashton - Gloucester number eight James Forrester has been stretchered off in the game against Bristol at Ashton Gate.

1507: At Sixways Worcester hooker Aleki Lutui immediately leaves Saracens opposite number Fabio Ongaro feeling very groggy indeed with the first of what will be numerous big hits across England.

1505: Kick off around the country.

1504: Saracens have got a back three of Rod Penney, Kameli Ratuvou and Thomas Castaignede - Dan Scarbrough's on the bench. If the Warriors are to stay up they'll have to prevent Sarries setting these runners free.

1502: Worcester were trailing Northampton by nine points at the turn of the year - will they complete their great escape?

1457: Apparently Worcester boss John Brain had a "good merlot" which helped him get a good night's sleep last night.

1445: Twenty minutes to go until the final round of Premiership matches get under way. My picks - Wasps to miss out on the play-offs, Worcester to go down.

It's hard to see Wasps winning away to Leicester, who are going for a top-two finish and a home semi-final, on their own patch.

As for the relegation places, Saracens look like they should have too much for Worcester out wide, while I'm tipping Northampton to win.

It's warm, sunny and the ground is firm - as long as the Saints pack fronts up surely it's time Carlos Spencer to live up to the "King Carlos" nickname he earned for his Super 12 exploits?

1415: It's the final day of the Guinness Premiership regular season and there is still all to play for at the top and bottom of the table.

Five teams are in with a shout of securing one of the four play-off berths, while Northampton and Worcester are the two teams fighting for their lives at the bottom.
