Hull coach targets new half-back

Sharp is looking to solve Hull's half-back problems

Hull FC coach Peter Sharp has launched a worldwide search for a half-back - and confirmed his interest in signing Canberra's Michael Dobson.

Hull are desperate to replace the injured Richard Horne and Sharp told BBC Radio Humberside he will turn to alternatives if Dobson is unavailable.

He said: "We're having a look at it because we've lost Richard Horne for an extended period.

"We've had 27 pairings at half-back and you must be steady in that position."

Hull FC chair-person Kath Hetherington is currently in Australia on the hunt for a new players and the former Catalans Dragons and Wigan player Dobson, 21, is top of the shopping list.

However, Sharp says they are really missing experienced players at scrum-half and stand-off and if Dobson turns them down he has said that the search will not end there.

"You need to be reasonably steady in that position," he said. "They're a pivotal position to the team structure on the way you play the game, how you play the game, when you play the game and why you play the game."

We just haven't had any continuity in that position this year and we are looking at our options

The Black and Whites were 32-12 winners at Castleford on Friday but Sharp has pointed to injuries in key positions as the reason why his side have won only three from 11 Super League games this season.

"We just haven't had any continuity in that position this year and on the basis of Richard being out for an extended period, and Adam Dykes has been out for an extended period, we are looking at our options," Sharp added.
