This is an important skill to learn.
The ball is on the ground after play-the-ball situations, so you must be able to make the pass to a nearby team-mate.
Play is also restarted when the ball is passed from ground after the ball has been kicked into touch following a penalty.
This is a skill you must master, especially if you are a scrum-half.
However, all players end up acting as a half-back after a tackle at some stage of a match.
STEP ONE
Bend your knees, ready to pick the ball up. Don't take your eyes off the ball.
STEP TWO
Pick the ball up - make sure it is safely in your hands before making the pass.
Keep your eyes fixed upon the team-mate you are intending to pass to.
This will help you deliver a more accurate pass.
STEP THREE
Pass from the ground in one movement, swinging your hands through an arc, keeping your elbows close to your body.
Release the ball with a flick of the wrists and fingers.
Don't forget to follow through - it will keep your coach happy with the added bonus of looking good.
