The 23-year-old winger was as a key performer in Catalans Dragons' run to the Super League play-offs, scoring nine tries and getting through a huge amount of work from dummy-half. Pelo was born in New Caledonia but learned his rugby league basics as a child in Australia after his family emigrated, eventually representing Cronulla Sharks' junior teams and Australia Schoolboys. But with an NRL contract not forthcoming, Pelo tried his luck in Super League - and the gamble has paid off in spectacular fashion.
