Great Britain's women curlers sunk to their second defeat in the round robin stages of the Winter Olympics, losing 9-3 to title favourites Canada. The defending champions struggled for accuracy with skip Rhona Martin and Jackie Lockhart particularly off-target with the stone from the backline.
Canada raced to a 4-0 lead from the first four ends and Martin's team could only answer with three points.
The loss meant Britain fell to fifth in the table with the top four advancing.
Martin's team now must realistically win at least two of their remaining four matches in Pinerolo.
"We wanted to keep it close to the fifth end but we gave them a headstart that we didn't mean to," Martin told BBC Sport.
"Canada got their shots in before us and we were a bit slow on the uptake.
"We have put more pressure on ourselves now and in these games left we have to go and do what we can do."
Lockhart admitted she had not been at her best on the ice, saying: "I was really struggling with the ice and stone.
"But we will have to pick ourselves up because we still have a lot to play for."
