It was the seventh win in eight games for the in-form Pistons, while the Heat have lost three of their last four. Miami went into the game without leading scorer Eddie Jones, and finished with its lowest total of the season. Ben Wallace added 19 rebounds while Cliff Robinson had 15 points for Detroit. Caron Butler was Miami's leading scorer with 13 points and Rasual Butler added 10. Veterans Karl Malone and John Stockton did the damage for Utah as they beat Minnesota 109-97. Malone had 28 points and nine rebounds, and John Stockton added 18 points and 11 assists. The defeat ended Minnesota's six-game winning streak. Matt Harpring added 21 for the Jazz, while Kevin Garnett had 34 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves. In Monday's only other game Portland beat New York 99-91.
