White was in ruthless mood

Bond took the first frame against White and managed to level at 3-3 despite having a highest break of just 35.

But he failed to win another frame as the 41-year-old White, who has not won a world ranking event for 11 years, took firm control of their quarter-final in York.

"I didn't score that heavily, but my important pots were good," said White, who led 5-3 at the interval.

"I'm playing my B-game at the moment. I'm not firing on all cylinders, but let's hope it connects against Matthew."

It was also plain sailing for Stevens.

And the Welshman compiled a superb 104 in the opening frame of the evening session to leave Hunter reeling.

"My long game was very good," said Stevens. "I've put a lot of hard work in. It's starting to pay off."
