Lee claimed a famous win on Amberleigh House in 2004 |
Former Grand National-winning jockey Graham Lee will miss this year's race after admitting he was not fully fit after fracturing his jaw in February. Ferdy Murphy's retained jockey, Lee suffered the injury at Huntingdon and missed out on the Cheltenham Festival. "I could go to Aintree but I'm not 100%, I'd be about 85%," said Lee, 32, who won the race in 2004 on the Ginger McCain-trained Amberleigh House. "I'm going to sit tight but it's going to kill me that I'm missing it." "If I rushed I could get to Aintree, but I think in this day and age we jockeys are professional athletes and I'm not going to ride until I'm 110% per fit. | 606: DEBATE |
"I'm 10 days to two weeks short and it would not be fair on owners, trainers or horses."
