Hockey: umpires
Players argue with an umpire at the Athens Olympics
Two umpires control the game in hockey.

They are primarily responsible for decisions in their half of the field.

Players who break the rules are verbally warned and can then be shown a green, yellow or red card.

Umpires are also responsible for keeping time and recording goals.
