Basketball equipment guide: shoes
VestballShortsShoesSocksNews image

The look of the shoe will be important, but it shouldn't be top of your list.

Ankle injuries are common in basketball so you need plenty of support.

A lot of players prefer to wear boots that are ankle length, but some players go for the lower cut trainer.

You will be doing a lot of jumping and twisting so another way of reducing injuries is to get shoes with a good cushion.

Look out for the air-cushioned soles.

Blisters can hurt so get shoes with good ventilation and this will help your feet breathe and reduce your sweating.

When you're buying new shoes, it pays to run around in them in the shop to give them a good test before you buy.

And remember your feet are bigger when they are hot, so be careful with the sizes.
