A star of the Chinese gymnastics squad, this 20-year-old floor and vault specialist is expected to lead China's women on their way to their goal of a team gold in Beijing. Four years ago in Athens, the end of her final floor routine was greeted by boos from the crowd - who thought the judges had marked her too low in placing her fourth. Since then, Cheng has amassed more world titles than any other Chinese gymnast, and has one of the most difficult vaults in gymnastics named after her. The uneven bars are her weakest event, so she will concentrate on the vault, floor and balance beam in Beijing. |
