CJ McGourty has fallen foul of Liam Bradley's disciplinary code |
Antrim footballer CJ McGourty has been dropped from the county squad. McGourty and three colleagues were omitted for Saturday's Allianz Division 4 win over London after, apparently, missing a training session last week. The other players have been welcomed back into Liam Bradley's panel after apologising for their actions. However, McGourty is reportedly to have had already fallen foul of Bradley's disciplinary code and, as a result, has been dropped for disciplinary reasons. Bradley told the Irish News that his squad "unfortunately had a problem last week" but refused to elaborate on McGourty's situation. "We have a code of conduct which we expect players to adhere to," added Bradley. It's not clear whether the door has been left open for McGourty to make a return to the squad in the near future. McGourty is a talented hurler and he has indicated that he would consider any approach from county bosses Sambo McNaughton and Dominic McKinley. Antrim lead Division 4 after playing five games and victory over Sligo on Sunday may prove enough to guarantee promotion.
