Jorge Lorenzo crashing in China
Lorenzo fractured both ankles when he crashed in China

Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo finished fourth-fastest in Friday's practice session for the French MotoGP despite suffering another crash.

The 21-year-old limped away from his crash on the Fiat Yamaha but suffered no further damage to the ankles he fractured in China two weeks ago.

Lorenzo was carried back to his garage on a stretcher as a precaution, because of his existing injury.

Championship leader Dani Pedrosa set the best time, ahead of Casey Stoner.

Tech 3 Yamaha rider Colin Edwards, who started last year's French race from pole and was also on pole for this year's China race, was third fastest.

Valentino Rossi came home sixth, with less than one second separating the top nine riders.

James Toseland, who was 10th fastest in the morning session, slipped back to 15th place after making changes to his bike's suspension.
