It proved to be a disastrous race for the British contingent at the 125cc China Grand Prix as none of them managed to finish in wet conditions. Bradley Smith, who started the race on pole position, could not capitalise on a decent start as he crashed out on the seventh lap. Scott Redding took a tumble on the fourth lap and Danny Webb hit the tarmac five laps later. Italian Andrea Iannone was the surprise winner, after starting from fifth. From the midway point, Iannone held his nerve for a memorable win, which he eventually took by over three seconds and celebrated with a huge wheelie down the home straight. Wet weather expert Mike di Meglio took his first podium of the year from the front row, while world championship leader Simone Corsi was another to crash out - his involvement ending on the 14th lap.
