Irish Superbike series gets boost
Michael Pearson
Michael Pearson in action at Bishopscourt
The Irish Superbike series has received a financial boost for 2008 with more sponsorship and greater prize money.

It is hoped the main Superbike series may have a title sponsor on board before the championship commences at Bishopscourt on Easter Saturday.

Anglesey in Wales will host a round and Ballykelly may also be a new venue.

A three round 'Masters' series will be run at Mondello Park on ISB weekends and it is hoped that some of Ireland's British championship riders will race.

Major prize money will be on offer for that 'mini series'.

The Lightweight Supersport class will now be known as the Isaac Agnew Van Centre Mini Twins championship and in addition to the Superbikes, there will be Supersport, 250cc, 125cc, Pre-97 and sidecar events.

Michael Pearson won last year's Irish Superbike championship by 1.5 points from Waterford man Brian McCormack.

March 22 - Bishopscourt

June 14 - Bishopscourt
