Istanbul, Turkey

The first Turkish Grand Prix will be held at a brand new track just outside Istanbul, on the Asian side of the city.

The 3.34-mile track has been designed by Formula One's favoured architect, Hermann Tilke, the man behind the circuits in Malaysia, Bahrain and China.

A glance at the circuit layout suggests it will share many of their characteristics, with a number of the corners reminiscent of bends on those tracks.

An interesting twist for the Turkish track, though, is the addition of a substantial kink in the main straight.

It remains to be seen what effect this will have on overtaking opportunities at the slow left-right-left combination that follows.

Beyond that, little is known about the track, but as a showcase for Turkey, it can be expected to feature a similar level of lavishness to other recent new tracks.

And with a date in mid-August, the weather can be expected to be baking hot.

Driver commentary will be added when available
