Brotherton's Tour moment: Stage 10
Francois Simon in the saddle on the 10th stage
The pain - Simon makes his way up to Alpe d'Huez
Throughout the Tour de France, Simon Brotherton is providing daily race reports for BBC Five Live and stage highlights for Sport Online.

Tuesday's moment came from the French journeyman professional Francois Simon, who has taken over the yellow jersey as race leader.

Francois, a former winner of the French national championship, is from a well-known cycling family.

All three of his brothers were professional cyclists and all three of them have won a stage in the Tour de France.

Francois Simon celebrates being in yellow after 10 stages of the tour
The glory - Simon's efforts are rewarded at the end of the day
Francois has yet to emulate them.

Second place on a stage two years ago is the closest he has come to making it four out of four for the brothers.

But the ride up to Alpe d'Huez makes up for it and is the crowning moment of his career.

In a further twist his elder brother Pascal also held the yellow jersey back in 1983.

But he had to abandon the race in excruciating circumstances while still in the maillot jaune.

A fall left him with a broken collarbone, and despite struggling on for several days, he was finally forced to abandon.

Guess where the riders were heading on that fateful day when he was forced out - Alpe d'Huez.

Now 18 years on, the family can celebrate being in yellow again.

Jerome was spotted at the finish line and I bet the others were not far away.
