| What goes up ... In the latest of his BBC Sport Online Tour de France diaries, David Millar says the race is taking its toll. After Sunday's long stage in the rain I was shattered. I crashed out at the hotel last night and on Monday morning I still felt really tired so I wasn't in a very good mood. I also found out the official split times for the Dunkerque TT. It turns out I was three seconds up on Lance's time at 3km to go. I was holding back for the finishing straight as well even though I was obviously going too fast round the final bend! Gutted - I'll have to wait another year now. I decided to conserve as much energy as possible today ahead of Tuesday's nightmare stage so I stayed at the back again. I'm really not looking forward to the mountains. It will be crunch time - if I can just make it up the Alpe d'Huez it will be a serious weight of my mind. It's a 10.30 start so I'm going to get a very early night! |
