Range: 170-190 yds (155-177m)
This is the longest iron in a standard modern set of clubs.
It is still pretty tough to hit but is worth considering on long approach shots to the green or off the tee on long par 3 hole.
Modern-day irons have a hollowed out rear which creates a larger sweet spot, meaning they are more 'forgiving' of poorly struck shots.
By changing the weight of the clubhead to lower the centre of gravity in long irons, the ball is easier to hit and flies higher.
