Masters collapse from Monty
Colin Montgomerie had a bad second round at the Masters
Colin Montgomerie shot a miserable second-round 80 to miss the Masters cut by three strokes.

The Scot, who started the day at one under par, struggled on the greens and made nine bogeys with just one birdie coming with a long putt at the 14th.

Sandy Lyle, champion here in 1988, followed his opening-day 72 with a 74 to lie at two over par.

Paul Lawrie will also feature at the weekend after an impressive round of 70 to reach 147 - three over par.

Lyle picked up birdies at the 14th and 16th holes to make amends for a poor front nine, which featured a double-bogey six at the third.

Lawrie recovered from his opening 77 to knock in three birdie putts - dropping just one shot at the par five 13th.

It was Lawrie's first sub-par round in five visits to Augusta and he was pleased with his day's work.

"I played lovely today," Lawrie told BBC Sport. "I made a couple of decent putts on the way home when I had to keep it going."

Any chance Montgomerie had of making the cut-off mark of four over par vanished when he three-putted from within three feet at the 15th.

The opportunity to make back-to-back gains was lost and he three-putted again at the 17th.
