The sprinklers were on early at Augusta on Sunday - taking the overnight frost off the course or softening it up?

With a Sunday ticket burning a hole in their pockets, "patrons" were at Augusta's gates at the crack of dawn

And when those gates opened the race for the best vantage points started - so much for the no-running rule at Augusta

The sun might be shining but Georgia's peach farmers are worried - Henrik Stenson wasn't taking any chances

But Mark Calcavecchia, the 1989 Open champion, ignored the chill to make a hot birdie-eagle start to his final round

Retief Goosen picked up on Sunday where he left off and was always near the top, ending in a tie for second

But defending champion Phil Mickelson saw his hopes disappear with a disastrous triple-bogey seven at the 1st

And while Mickelson was in full reverse, the unflappable Tiger Woods was backing into the lead at a major once more

But perhaps this time the world number one would have to fight for his win - Rory Sabbatini was in the mood for a scrap

The South Africans were looking good but the Europeans were struggling - Padraig Harrington and Justin Rose started badly

But having hit the front, a strange thing started to happen to Woods, his game suddenly started to get very scruffy

Meanwhile, England's Rose was climbing out of the hole he got himself into early on to mount a superb challenge

But while most attention was on the likes of Woods, Goosen and Rose, Zach Johnson kept holing putts to take the lead

And when Rose double-bogeyed 17 to blow his chance after a wayward drive and a poor chip...

...and Woods failed to hole out in two on the par-four 18th
