Big guns miss major target
Ernie Els
Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson failed to mount their expected challenges on the final day at Whistling Straits.

The world numbers two and four have been by far the most consistent players at this year's majors, but Mickelson's Masters win is their only victory.

And a bogey at the last for Els knocked the South African out of the second place finish he needed to oust Tiger Woods as world number one.

Mickelson also bogeyed the last to fall back to six under and a share of sixth.
