The England team have just emerged from the dressing rooms and the noise which greeted them was deafening - much noiser than for a game here involving Manchester United!

1250 BST: The gates have opened at Old Trafford and the fans are now piling into the stadium. Unlike for the game against Hungary on Tuesday, this match is a sell-out.

Thousands of fans - most of them wearing replica England kits - are milling about outside the stadium, mingling with the massively-outnumbered Jamaican fans, who are looking ever so cool in their green-and-yellow shirts.

There's a sense of expectancy among the assembled media. It's time for England (and manager Sven-Goran Eriksson) to get serious. No more tinkering, in exactly seven days time England will be preparing to kick-off against Paraguay in Frankfurt.
