ALL THE ACTION AS IT HAPPENED

FULL TIME Brazil book their place in the last eight courtesy of goals from Ronaldo, Adriano and Jose Ze Roberto - but it was not as easy as the scoreline suggests.

90+ mins: Ricardinho finds Juan with an audacious back-heel and Juan's shot is saved well by Richard Kingson.

90+ mins: Stephen Appiah blazes over and Ghana look destined to leave Dortmund without a goal to their name.

89 mins: Cafu is released by Juninho, but the Brazilian skipper has his cheeky dink saved by Richard Kingson with Ronaldinho awaiting a cross in the middle.

88 mins: John Pantsil has a speculative stab from range and Dida saves a bouncing ball well.

87 mins: Alex Tachie-Mensah has a dart, but his shot is easily saved by Dida. Brazil bomb straight down the other end and Ronaldo's shot is saved well by Richard Kingson.

83 mins:GOAL Brazil 3-0 Ghana
Ricardinho sticks a simple ball over Ghana's centre-backs and Jose Ze Roberto cuts across, flicks it past Richard Kingson and taps in.

82 mins: Kaka is replaced by Ricardinho in Brazil's midfield. Brazil are getting the bird from the 60,000 for playing about with it at the back.

80 mins:SENDING OFF
Asamoah Gyan gets his marching orders for a dive in Brazil's penalty area. Two yellow cards and he probably deserved to go.

79 mins: John Pantsil very nearly heads Juninho's cross past his own goal-keeper Richard Kingson in the Ghana goal.

78 mins: Alex Tachie-Mensa finds Asamoah Gyan, whose shot is saved by Dida. He should have done better.

Brazil look to have a quarter-final place in the bag, but users of Player Rater are not convinced they will go all the way.

In a poll, only one in three of those who responded said Brazil would successfully defend their world crown.

76 mins: The industrious Sulley Muntari barges his way into the Brazilian penalty area but is unable to touch the ball past Dida.

73 mins: Ronaldinho almost finds Jose Ze Roberto with a ball over the top, but Richard Kingson races off his line and heads clear. With Ghana striving for a goal, you sense Brazil are going to hit them on the break in the last 15 minutes.

"Since Gilberto Silva's been on for Brazil he's looked so much better than Emerson. Ronaldo doesnt seem to have that pace available to him any more and it certainly wont become available again while he's carrying that weight."
Graham Taylor, Five Live Sport.

69 mins: Alex Tachie-Mensa replaces Matthew Amoah up front for Ghana.

68 mins: Stephen Appiah puts in Asamoah Gyan who tests Dida with a shot low to his left. Matthew Amoah is foiled again by Dida from the rebound.

Brazil's World Cup record-breaker Ronaldo is catching the eye among users of Player Rater. He leads the way so far with a rating of 9.05 - a far cry from Brazil's opening group game against Croatia, when an out-of-sorts Ronaldo scored a woeful 3.38!

64 mins: Ronaldo is offside once again and Roberto Carlos is furious with him for not holding the line. Brazil seem to have weathered the Ghanaian storm and have assumed complete control.

60 mins: Juninho replaces Adriano for Brazil, while Derek Boateng replaces Eric Addo for Ghana.

56 mins: Ronaldinho puts Roberto Carlos in with a beautifully-weighted pass, but the Brazil full-back is unable to toe-poke the ball past Richard Kingson.

51 mins: Matthew Amoah lays the ball off to Haminu Draman in the Brazilian box after more quality interplay from Ghana, but Draman, eyes like saucers, blazes over.

49 mins: More neat football from Ghana ends disappointingly with a wild shot from Asamoah Gyan. But the Africans are clearly going to throw everything they've got at Brazil in the second half.

47 mins: Asamoah Gyan is the fifth Ghanaian booked for booting the ball into the stands after having a free-kick given against him.

46 mins: Gilberto Silva is on for Emerson in Brazil's midfield as Ghana get the second half under way.

"Brazil don't deserve to go in 2-0 up because they have not had that much of the play. You could argue that Ghana deserved an equaliser before Adriano's goal - which looks like it was definitely offside - but their organisation at the back is lacking many things."
Graham Taylor, Five Live Sport

1653 BST: Users of Player Rater are in little doubt that Adriano's goal on the stroke of half-time should not have stood. 93% of those responding to a poll on Player Rater said the goal should have been ruled out for offside.

HALF-TIME Ronaldo and Adriano are the goalscorers as Brazil lead Ghana at half-time in Dortmund. But the defending champions have been living on the edge, with their defending dodgy in the face of some surging Ghanaian attacks.

45 mins:GOAL Brazil 2-0 Ghana
Adriano doubles Brazil's lead, tapping in a cross from Cafu after a sweeping end-to-end move - but it was clearly offside. Immediately before, Sulley Muntari almost tip-toed his way through the flaky Brazil defence at the other end.

43 mins: Juan is booked for a crude challenge on Eric Addo, who's giving and taking a bit of flak in this match.

41 mins: John Mensah almost scores for Ghana, nodding a free header straight at the feet of Dida in the Brazilian goal. Brazil are on very thin ice in Dortmund.

37 mins: Eric Addo is the fourth Ghanaian in the referee's book for a blatant foul on Adriano. The odds on the Africans ending the game with 11 men are shortening by the minute. Ronaldinho is still struggling to dredge up the magic and sticks his free-kick way over.

34 mins: Eric Addo crosses for Asamoah Gyan, who shrugs off two defenders but can only hook the ball over. Brazil are under the cosh in Dortmund and Lucio receives treatment for an injury.

29 mins: Ronaldinho almost scores with a cross to the near post, but Richard Kingson is alert to it and punches it away. Lucio has a header saved by Kingson from the ensuing scramble. Haminu Draman breaks quickly but blazes over when he should have shown more composure.

28 mins: Matthew Amoah finds more space in Brazil's box but his shot just dribbles towards Dida in Brazil's goal.

"Brazil have got a bit complacent after that first goal and taken their foot off the accelerator. They think they've got the game won already. The second string who played against Japan look a lot livelier than this Brazilian team."
Graham Taylor, Five Live Sport

26 mins: Sulley Muntari shows some nifty footwork on the edge of Brazil's box but scuffs his shot. Brazil's defence is looking, well, typically Brazilian at present.

24 mins: This is kids' stuff for Kaka in Brazil's midfield as he finds Roberto Carlos with another searching pass over the top of Ghana's defence. Carlos, however, hooks his cross over the bar.

23 mins: Ghana are getting more into the game now and Matthew Amoah has their best chance so far. Sulley Muntari splits Brazil's defence assunder with a pinpoint pass but Amoah snatches his shot.

18 mins: Illiasu Shilla plays Asamoah Gyan in but the Ghana forward is given off-side. Dubious.

"From what we've seen so far, Brazil are firmly in control of this game. They've dominated the early stages and Ghana's back four are all over the place. I think we're going to see more Brazilian goals."
Graham Taylor, Five Live Sport

12 mins: Adriano is put in by Jose Ze Roberto but the Inter Milan man is unable to emulate Ronaldo and is halted by Richard Kingson. Adriano makes a meal of it and is booked for diving - and rightly so. Ghana are defending very high and are getting opened up time and again by Brazil's midfielders.

10 mins: Sulley Muntari is booked for a tackle on Lucio. He'll have to watch his step.

6 mins: Stephen Appiah is booked for a tackle on Kaka.

4 mins:GOAL Brazil 1-0 Ghana
Ronaldo breaks Gerd Muller's World Cup finals goalscoring record to give the defending champions the lead. Kaka puts Ronaldo in and the Real Madrid man mugs Richard Kingson with a trademark stepover and slots the ball home. It's Ronaldo's 15th goal in World Cup finals.

2 mins: Sulley Muntari, who is back from suspension, gives Jose Ze Roberto a clatter in midfield. An early taster of things to come?

1 min: Ronaldo finds himself in acres of space in the Ghana box - but he is adjudged as being off-side. Poor decision by the linesman and Ghana should have been punished early.

1600 BST: It's Brazil who kick off in Dortmund.

PRE-MATCH BUILD-UP

"Carlos Alberto Parreira is sticking to his plan. I personally think Gilberto Silva is a better player than Emerson but I'm not the Brazilian manager.

"I'm expecting a very good game and if Ghana can go on the attack they might cause Brazil some problems. But they're not the best defenders and Brazil have some special players who can punish them."
Graham Taylor, Five Live Sport

1555 BST: The anthems boom out, Brazil's jaunty little tune sung with gusto by their number. Ghana's players don't fancy singing along to their anthem.

1551 BST: A riot of colour in the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, with Ghana fans painted from head to toe in red, gold and green and Brazilian women decked out in very little.

1549 BST: Someone has just pointed out that Ghana's 23 squad members play for 23 different clubs. Fascinating stuff.

1547 BST: Brazil are gunning for their 11th World Cup finals win in a row against Ghana. They haven't lost since the 1998 final.

1538 BST: Robinho has been named as one of Brazil's substitutes despite a thigh injury. Meanwhile, Ronaldo needs just one goal to break Gerd Muller's World Cup finals goal-scoring record.

1535 BST: Ghana are known as the Brazilians of Africa and have only met the defending champions once before. They were hammered 8-2 in a friendly in 1996.

1533 BST:Did you know? Brazil's coach Carlos Alberto Parreira had a stint as Ghana's physical trainer in the late sixties.

1510 BST: Brazil revert to their first-choice line-up, with Jose Ze Roberto, Adriano, Emerson, Roberto Carlos and Cafu returning. Cafu plays his 19th World Cup finals match, a new Brazilian record.

For Ghana, Eric Addo is in for the suspended Michael Essien. Sulley Muntari returns from a ban while Asamoah Gyan will partner Matthew Amoah in attack. Emmanuel Pappoe comes in for Habib Mohamed in defence.
