ALL THE ACTION AS IT HAPPENED
FULL-TIME Saudi Arabia 0-1 Spain
Gutierrez Juanito's header is enough to secure Spain's victory and to ensure they finish top of Group H with three wins from three matches.
92 mins: Another chance for Saudi Arabia. The Spanish defence seemed happy to watch as Nawaf Al Temyat lined up a shot and fired the ball two yards wide from a tight angle.
90 mins: There will be four minutes of injury time in Kaiserslautern.
89 mins: Saad Al Harthi wastes Saudi Arabia's best chance of the game so far. He is teed up by Mohammed Noor, but fires miles over the top from about 10 yards out.
87 mins: It looks like the final few minutes of Saudi Arabia's World Cup - but they do not look like ending their campaign with a flourish. Spain seem to have survived their wobble in form and are looking comfortable.
82 mins: Saudi Arabia continue to press and a free-kick from Nawaf Al Temyat causes Santiago Canizares some problems at his near post.
77 mins: Nawaf Al Temyat goes down in the box under pressure from David Albeida. The referee is not convinced - and books the Saudi for diving.
"Just when it looked like the Saudis had thrown the towel in, they're starting to enjoy a bit of possession here and Spain, for the first time, are having to defend a bit."
Chris Waddle, BBC Five Live Sports Extra
74 mins: For the first time in the game, it is now the Saudis who are on the front foot. Some of the Spain fans make their frustration known with some derisory whistling.
70 mins: Andriy Shevchenko's penalty puts Ukraine ahead against Tunisia. That goal would appear to end Saudi Arabia's tiny hopes of qualification as they need Tunisia to pick up at least a point.
"Jose Antonio Reyes shows his exasperation at a misplaced pass in this low-key affair. The Spanish fans are making their own entertainment as they sing and clap along to the sound of a drum and you cannot blame them."
Mandeep Sanghera, BBC Sport in Kaiserslautern
69 mins: Hussein Sulamani almost conjures up a shock equaliser for Saudi Arabia as he pushes into the box and fires in a shot which Santiago Canizares pushes wide.
66 mins: Spain coach Luiz Aragones is clearly keen for a bit more urgency from his charges, and replaces Cesc Fabregas with Xavi.
64 mins: Spain are looking very comfortable and are trying plenty of fancy tricks. The match has the feel of a training game at the moment.
58 mins: Spain's Cesc Fabregas sends in an angled shot with the outside of his boot but the ball drifts across the box and out for a goal-kick.
57 mins: Hussein Sulimani causes some discomfort for Spain keeper Santiago Canizares with a long-range shot which is fumbled. He retrieves the situation. It is Saudi Arabia's second shot of the match.
53 mins: Mabrouk Zaid is able to carry on - for now. But the Saudi keeper is unable to take his goal kicks.
51 mins: Bad news for Saudi Arabia. Keeper Mabrouk Zaid - clearly their best player in the match so far - goes down injured after catching a dangerous ball across the box from Gutierrez Juanito and colliding with Carlos Marchena.
50 mins: Mabrouk Zaid has distinguished himself in the Saudi goal. He produces another excellent save to tip a shot from Antonio Lopez around the post.
45 mins: The match restarts. If the score in the other Group H match between Ukraine and Tunisia stays at 0-0, Saudi Arabia will need to score at least six goals to qualify. But there is no sign of pigs flying over the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.
45 mins: The teams are back and Spain coach Luiz Aragones has made one change, bringing on David Villa for Raul.
"Spain are looking comfortable, despite resting so many of their key men. The players on the pitch are showing the depth of quality at manager Luis Aragones' disposal."
Mandeep Sanghera, BBC Sport in Kaiserslautern
HALF-TIME The referee blows his whistle to bring to an end one of the most one-sided 45 minutes so far at this World Cup. Gutierrez Juanito has scored the only goal. Spain could have had many more.
43 mins: Saudi keeper Mabrouk Zaid makes another excellent save, this time from Jose Antonio Reyes' goalbound shot.
42 mins: The only surprising thing about this game is that Spain are only one goal ahead. Their next move sees chances for Raul and Cesc Fabregas in quick succession - but both are squandered.
40 mins: Saudi Arabia finally fashion a decent chance of their own as Sami Al Jaber breaks clear down the left. But it is a disappointingly weak finish and Santiago Canizares saves with ease.
36 mins: GOAL Saudi Arabia 0-1 Spain
Gutierrez Juanito leaps high and powers an unstoppable header past the blameless Saudi keeper Mabrouk Zaid. Arsenal's Jose Antonio Reyes supplied the inch-perfect cross from a free-kick.
29 mins: Joaquin attempts to become the latest player to score a wonder goal at this World Cup as he weaves his way through the defence before firing in a shot which is tipped over by Mabrouk Zaid.
28 mins: David Albelda drives the ball from the edge of the box, but Saudi keeper Mabrouk Zaid produces an excellent save to push it wide. He becomes the first Spanish player in the book shortly afterwards after a foul.
27 mins: Sami Al Jaber of Saudi Arabia becomes the first player in the book for a foul.
"Spain's second string have brought the crowd to life with some of their play but it's a hard game for the fans to get into."
Mandeep Sanghera, BBC Sport in Kaiserslautern
21 mins: Saudi Arabia do not seem interested in going for the unlikely win which would give them a slim chance of qualification. They are happy to sit back and let Spain come at them. It has been a decidedly low-key contest so far.
17 mins: Spain's Jose Antonio Reyes is next to have a chance, but his low shot from just outside the six-yard box is well stopped by Mabrouk Zaid.
16 mins: Joaquin has Spain's first shot in anger with a right-foot drive from the edge of the box. Mabrouk Zaid tips it over - but in a decision which would do Graham Poll proud, a goal kick is given.
13 mins: Saudi Arabia are forced into their first change, as Nawaf Al Temyat comes on for the injured Khaled Aziz who appears to have done his hamstring no good at all with his attempted backheel.
"He's actually pulled a hamstring trying a backheel that you wouldn't even see a Brazilian try in his own defence. But you shouldn't laugh."
Chris Waddle, BBC Five Live Sports Extra
10 mins: It's a slow start by both teams. And the pace will not be improved by an injury to Saudi Arabia's Khaled Aziz who goes down clutching his leg when attempting a backheel. He is stretchered off, shaking his head.
4 mins: Ominous signs for Saudi Arabia early on as Arsenal's Jose Antonio Reyes finds an alarming amount of space in the box. Moments later, Raul heads over. The starting line-up has changed, but Spain are clearly keen to keep their impressive form going.
"Spain have changed their side completely around, but I fully expect them to go for it today - winning is a habit and the players out there will be desperate to perform."
Chris Waddle, BBC Five Live Sports Extra
1500 BST: Saudi Arabia kick off on a sunny day in Kaiserslautern.
PRE-MATCH BUILD-UP
1457 BST: Two of the most experienced players in world football, Sami Al Jaber of Saudi Arabia and Raul of Spain shake hands in the centre circle.
1455 BST: The teams enter the arena of the Fritz-Walter-Stadion - like all the venues at this World Cup, it is packed.
1442 BST: "Red and yellow is the dominant colour at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion with the Spanish fans in relaxed and light-hearted mood with their team's progress guaranteed. Saudi Arabia's chances of going through may be all but over but their fans seem determined to enjoy the occasion."
Mandeep Sanghera, BBC Sport in Kaiserslautern
1440 BST: Spain coach Luis Aragones has selected an entirely new starting line-up for the match against Saudi Arabia.
Spain captain Raul starts for the first time at this World Cup, accompanied by Joaquin and Jose Antonio Reyes up front.
Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta were chosen in midfield, while 36-year-old reserve keeper Santiago Canizares started behind a new-look back four.
Coach Marcos Paqueta made three changes to the team hammered 4-0 by Ukraine in their last match, bringing in experienced Sami Al Jaber and Saad Al Harthi up front and Abdulaziz Al Khathran in midfield.
The Spanish are already assured of a place in the last 16, and are almost certain to top the group - barring the unlikely scenario of a heavy defeat to Saudi Arabia coupled with a big win for Ukraine.
