ALL THE ACTION AS IT HAPPENED
"Iran have done most of the running and had most of the attempts, and they are well worth their draw - on the day, I don't think you could argue that Angola deserved to win the game.
Kevin Gallacher, Five Live pundit
Full-time: Iran 1-1 Angola
It's all over in Leipzig and Angola fall short of qualifying for the second round of the World Cup. Even a 1-0 win would not have been enough - they needed goals, and in truth they never much looked like scoring them.
89 mins: Ferydoon Zandi gets on the end of another ball pumped into the Angola box, but the striker can only loop a header over the crossbar.
84 mins: More of the same. Rasoul Khatibi rifles in a specualtive shot from 20 yards that Joao Ricardo has to parry over. The Angolans have simply fallen apart since the hammer blow of conceding.
83 mins: Iran are doing most of the pressing and they could just go on and win this now. A cross to the far stick is aimed at Ali Daei, but his header is weak and straight at Joao Ricardo.
81 mins: The heart has gone out of Angola's display after that crushing blow from Iran. Just as they were preparing for a last-gasp push, their World Cup is effectively over.
75 mins: GOAL Iran 1-1 Angola
All over for Angola. Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh climbs highest from a right-wing corner and, unmarked, the defender nods into the unguarded far corner. Great news for Mexico, though.
74 mins: "Iran's finishing from the start has been poor - they have been lacklustre in the final third, summed up by Ali Daei's miss before the break."
Kevin Gallacher, Five Live pundit
72 mins: Figueiredo is taken off after another hard-working performance, with Rui Marques coming on in his place as they step up the hunt for more goals.
69 mins: Amado Love nearly repeats his feat, sneaking in at the back post to head straight at Ebrahim Mirzapour from another Ze Kalanga cross. Unfortunately for Ze Kalanga, he has also just been booked, so he would miss a last 16 game if they do manage to get through.
66 mins: Hosein Kaebi is taken off as Iran change to three at the back to try and get back on level terms, with Arash Borhani replacing him.
63 mins: As things stand, Angola are just two goals away from a last 16 place. If they score once and Portugal go 3-1 up against Mexico, they will qualify. It is far from over yet.
60 mins: GOAL Iran 0-1 Angola
Unbelievable. This could be one of the great World Cup stories. Amado Flavio bags his 14th goal for Angola with a lovely header at the far post from Ze Kalanga's right-wing cross after great work from Figueiredo.
58 mins: But they just cannot get going again. The defenders back off and Mehdi Mahdavikia fires in a shot from 25 yards straight at Joao Ricardo that the keeper can only nervously punch back into play.
57 mins: It's now or never, Angola - this is the chance to make World Cup history. Mexico are down to 10 men, they might even go further behind against Portugal. If Angola score, they could book a last 16 place against Argentina or Holland.
55 mins: Andranik Taymoorian is cautioned for standing in front of the ball as Angola tried to take a quick free-kick.
53 mins: A lifeline for Angola as Mexico miss a penalty in Gelsenkirchen and they are still losing. But Angola need goals to go through and they need more than just speculative shots from outside the area.
52 mins: Mendonca is beginning to find his range and this time he shoots from 25 yards, the ball drifting just off target with Ebrahim Mirzapour struggling to get across.
50 mins: Loco is putting himself about in the Iran box but they are forced to make another change when Akwa is forced off and Amado Flavio comes on in his place.
46 mins: Angola start brightly and the balls falls kindly for Mendonca just outside the box, the midfielder seeing his right-foot shot fly just wide.
"It would have been fantastic for Angola to go in 1-0 up, especially as they will be hearing that Mexico are losing. But now they are going to have to prepare for a huge push in the second half."
Kevin Gallacher, Five Live pundit
Half-time: The whistle goes for the interval in Leipzig and it draws to a close a lively first half in which both teams created several decent chances to open the scoring. Let's hope the finishing can match the effort after the break.
45 mins + 3: Angola's best effort of the half, as Akwa feeds Arsenio Love and the dangerman hits a superb right-foot shot that forces Ebrahim Mirzapour to tip expertly over the crossbar.
45 mins: Mendonca is shown the yellow card, perhaps unfortunately, for standing in front of a free-kick as Iran tried to take it. There will be five minutes of first-half injury time.
43 mins: Iran are in the ascendancy and the ball falls invitingly to Mehdi Mahdavikia inside the penalty area on the right. But his control is dire and the ball skips away as another chance goes begging.
40 mins: Andranik Taymoorian hits a decent right-foot shot from 20 yards that forces Joao Ricardo to make a fine low save, the keeper pouncing on the rebound as Ali Daei closed in.
39 mins: Rasoul Khatabi has come on for Vahid Hashemian as Iran make a change before the break.
37 mins: Mehrzad Madanchi is booked for a foul on Ze Kalanga, who did him for pace on the right flank.
34 mins: Angola have four corners in a row but they fail to create a clear-cut chance and Miloy wastes the opportunity by dragging a hopeful effort wide from 20 yards.
31 mins: The finishing really is woeful. Seconds after Akwa blazes another volley miles over, plays switches to the other end and Ferydoon Zandi skies a left-foot effort.
29 mins: Defenders really are at a premium in Leipzig. The Iranians go missing and Akwa can only lash a volley over the crossbar from the edge of the 18-yard box.
27 mins: Another guilt-edged chance for the Iranians, this time it is Vahid Hashemian who rises highest from a corner and directs a header on target, only for Mendonca to clear off the line and Rahman Rezaei to slice the rebound wide.
25 mins: Arsenio Love gets a chance to make a name for himself, but the recently-introduced forward mis-hits a shot straight at Ebrahim Mirzapour.
24 mins: Iran have a fabulous chance to go in front but veteran striker Ali Daei spurns it, heading over from four yards when completely unmarked. A remarkable miss from a man with 109 international goals to his name.
23 mins: Loco is booked as he is carried off, for a foul on Ali Daei and he will miss the next match if Angola qualify. Meanwhile, striker Arsenio Love is brought on for Mateus.
21 mins: More problems for the African side, as Loco falls to the ground in agony and follows his team-mate in being stretchered off too. So like USA on Friday, for now, Angola are down to nine men.
20 mins: A worry for Angola as midfielder Mateus is stretchered off, seemingly in substantial pain, after a tough tackle on him in the Iran half.
17 mins: "Angola look more confident after their draw with Mexico and they are starting to think that maybe they can have a real go at beating Iran now."
Kevin Gallacher, Five Live pundit
15 mins: Figueiredo forces Ebrahim Mirzapour to make a sprawling save away to his right after Iran fail to clear their lines from an Akwa cross.
14 mins: Ferydoon Zandi is put clean through by a fabulous reverse pass, but the forward can only shoot straight at Joao Ricardo as the in-form stopper races from his line.
13 mins: Massoud Shojaei comes on for the injured Mohammad Nosrati, who picked up an early knock.
12 mins: Angola create their first half-chance of the contest when Akwa flicks the ball on for Mateus to volley over the bar from 25 yards.
11 mins: Ze Kalanga gets two great crossing opportunities on the Angolan right, but twice he fluffs his lines and the Iranians can clear comfortably.
8 mins: Mohammad Nosrati needs attention near the touchline after a foul and gets up gingerly.
5 mins: After a soporific start to this game, news filters through that Portugal are beating Mexico thanks to a Maniche goal. If Angola can win they are in with a real shout - but they might have to start attacking first.
3 mins: Hosein Kaebi gets a welcome-to-the-game kick from Jamba as Iran enjoy slightly the better of the early stages in Leipzig.
1 min: Mehrzad Madanchi gets into some space for the Iranians down the left, but his cross is easily gathered by the hero of the Mexico game for Angola, Joao Ricardo.
1500 BST: The Group D tie in Leipzig gets under way between Iran and Angola.
TEAM LINE-UPS
1413 BST: Angola have only a slim chance of progressing to the next round and they need Portugal to beat Mexico as part of the bargain.
They also need to beat Iran, but they have left Mantorras on the bench in favour of an extra midfielder again, with Miloy replacing the suspended Andre.
Ali Daei starts up front for Iran and it could be the 37-year-old's final appearance for his country.
