York City's coaching staff have made variety a key component in their pre-season training.
Assistant manager Andy Porter told BBC Radio York they have worked hard to make sure things are interesting for the players.
"We had this problem when we were players. We used to do the same things and we used to get bored and fed up.
"So we do look at a lot of things, different things that we try and do and keep it exciting," he said.
Porter added: "Even though it is hard work for them we try and do a lot of different things.
"It's what I've been doing all summer. I've been setting up with (physio) Jeff Miller all the things we're going to do.
"Some of them have been given programmes because they find it hard keeping their weight down. Also mobility and strengthening work."
