Ellington made over 100 appearances for Wigan |
Wigan are in talks with West Brom with a view to making a possible 3m bid for striker Nathan Ellington. Boss Paul Jewell is believed to have made an inquiry about the availability of the 25-year-old, who played for the Latics between 2002 and 2005.
Ellington's agent Tony Finnigan told BBC Sport that discussions were ongoing between the Latics and the Baggies.
"Wigan have been in talks with West Brom and are interested in taking things further," said Finnigan.
Ellington joined Wigan from Bristol Rovers for 1.2m in 2002 and helped the club reach the top flight for the first time following a successful 2004-2005 campaign.
He was sold to West Brom at the end of that season for 3m, but has since suffered from a spate of injuries that have hindered his progress at The Hawthorns.
Jewell mentioned after the New Year's defeat that he had already made an inquiry for a striker.
