Stockport County look to bring fans back

Stockport County

Stockport County wants to rebuild its relationship with fans following the 2015 Consortium takeover, says chief executive Sean Connelly.

The new owners are now looking for a manager to replace Gary Ablett who has left the League Two club.

Connelly told BBC Radio Manchester: "We want to involve the fans and talk to the fans, to get them involved more.

"Over the past number of years, we feel the club has become disconnected from its own community."

He added: "We find people who should be natural fans of the club are not - we want to build that back.

"We're listening to fans' ideas, we've collected hundreds of ideas from them and we'll do more as time moves ahead and we'll just get closer and closer to them.

"We now have a club that is debt-free at this point in time.

"We have a solid budget in place that will enable us to move ahead in that way.

"We have a board of people that are simply some of the best business people in Stockport and its area.

"They are lovers of football, they are lovers of Stockport the town, but they don't make silly decisions."
