Rochdale goalkeeper Neil Edwards looks set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Edwards has been struggling in recent weeks with groin, knee and knuckle injuries.

And after a scan on his groin injury revealed inflamed cartilage on his pelvis, the club's longest serving player has been told he needs long-term rest to recover.

"I've been struggling for the last couple of months with the groin injury and in recent weeks I've hardly been doing any training at all.

"Sadly it looks like I'll miss the rest of the season now and I'm gutted about that," Edwards told the club's website.

The 32-year-old also faces a scan on his knee problem and will have his injured knuckle set in plaster.

Edwards has missed Dale's last two games and Matthew Gilks is likely to continue to deputise as Paul Simpson's side bids to make a late run for the play-offs.
