Melville back at Oxford as coach

Andy Melville
Melville retired from playing at the end of the 2004/05 season

Oxford United have recruited former Wales international defender Andy Melville as a first-team coach - initially on a short-term basis.

Melville, 40, played 159 games for United in the early 1990s, before going on to play for Sunderland and West Ham.

U's boss Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford: "It's good for him and good for us.

"I have known him for a number of years. He has over 700 senior appearances, played for his country and lives in Oxford."

Wilder added: "These are the sort of people we want at the football club."
